Jered Sprecher's show I always Lie opens at Jeff Bailey in November. I've been looking at his work since it was included in the Weatherspoon Art Museums (NC) Art on Paper 2012. Like many artists today his source material is a compilation of the vast resources of constantly shifting visual information available. How do we make sense of this, is the perennial question. Sprecher's goal, in paintings like Behind your Eyes below, is to capture those shifting sands, but there's a solidity to these images, their construction and form that is much more concrete and comforting. As if Sprecher has captured this flow in a beautifully absorbing cement. I'll post more images once the Bailey show opens.
