Julia Morrisroe is a painter and associate professor at University of Florida. Looking at Painting began as a way to share my commitment to look and occasionally write about a wide variety of painting, contemporary and historical. In particular I'm looking at this as public commonplace book, a long term project to explore what I mean when I say 'thats a painting'.

Lucy McKenzie's trompe l'oeil paintings and dioramas were exhibited at Micheline Szwajcer in Antwerp. Her paintings read as bulletin boards of collected ephemera with a bent toward design. The Misogyny and politics of the far right are the source material or research fodder for the project, although its a little vague what this reshuffling of appropriated material means.
