Joseph Albers, color never looked so good

The Morgan Library show over the summer of Joseph Albers: Paintings on Paper has been mentioned on several blogs as one of the top ten shows of the year. Chiefly the surprise has been that Albers was more than the analytical hard edged colorist the art historical narrative has reduced him to. The Morgan show provides a look at his studies and humanizes his investigations into the phenomena of colour.
