I mentioned that there was a lot of drawing at the Biennale. Shinro Ohtake had rows and rows of vitrene's filled with his artist books. He began this work after visiting England in 1977, the english language and its representation on anything from ticket stubs and flyers caught his attention. Ohtake has created books of found images and objects, drawing and painting on them before coating them with wax, stain, varnish and plastic. Here's an older interview with Ohtake from Idea Magainze, Ohtake discusses the evolution of his collage books.
