Kim Fischer in Glasglow

Kim Fischer's exhibition Dirty Kitchen just wrapped up at The Modern Institute in Glasglow.
Working on dyed black linen and painting with an airbrush Fischer incorporates cut pieces of aluminum onto the surface of her work. I'm particularly interested in the physical relationship of the parts to whole, both in the individual works and in the installation.

Christopher Lew has a rambling interview with Kim Fischer from 2007 for Art on Air radio....they talked Art Basel, the beach, and the type of painting thats popular at the art fair. They did talk about her work briefly. Fischer explained the importance of materials in her work, down to the weave of linen, and how she thinks about making a painting more like building an object from scratch, so the conventions of the stretcher bars, and support are always explored anew with each work.
