Julia Morrisroe is a painter and associate professor at University of Florida. Looking at Painting began as a way to share my commitment to look and occasionally write about a wide variety of painting, contemporary and historical. In particular I'm looking at this as public commonplace book, a long term project to explore what I mean when I say 'thats a painting'.

Isabelle Cornaro exhibited ten Reproductions at Hannah Hoffman Gallery. According to the press release the paintings "based on her 16mm movie “Floues et Colorées” (Hazy and Colorful).....Reproductions are ... the enlarged versions of the paintings within the film... Playing with the idea of the autonomy of an artwork, Cornaro’s use of remediation calls attention to the act of painting as an attempt to reproduce something which already exists but in another shape and medium: a film of a painting and a painting of a film.
