Julia Morrisroe is a painter and associate professor at University of Florida. Looking at Painting began as a way to share my commitment to look and occasionally write about a wide variety of painting, contemporary and historical. In particular I'm looking at this as public commonplace book, a long term project to explore what I mean when I say 'thats a painting'.

Violet Fogs Azure Snot,Molly Zuckerman-Hartung's exhibition at Corbett Dempsey is a bit of a flirt. They look so casual, hanging so nicely on the wall, so well behaved, until you get up close. That's when her audacious paint handling becomes evident. She's wringing out the lexicon of paint, squeezing out every drop on her quirky stitched drop cloths. More images tomorrow
