Map Resource - Pieter van den Keere

Stanford University has opened its David Rumsey Map Collection last April. You can visit its physical space or its digital space to find some absolute wonders of the map world.

The first map celebrates the Twelve Years' Truce (1609-1621) between Spain and the Netherlands. By the Flemish engraver and Publisher Pieter van den Keere, the map represents Belgium as a lion standing on its hind legs.  The second map illustrates the highest mountains in Scotland, Wales, and England.
