Alice Neel: Portraits: redux

I’m a little early on the dog days of summer, but it's really hot and a good time to look back on the past twelve months. Today is the fourth in the ten part series reviewing the top blog posts (via web traffic) this year.

Seventy paintings are included in the Alice Neel retrospective, curated by Jeremy Lewison. The exhibition has traveled to Helsinki, The Hague, and the Vincent van Gogh Museum in Arles and will move to the Deichtorhallen in Hamburg this fall. One of the most powerful and under-appreciated painters of her time this exhibition is not slated to tour in the USA.  At all.
