Sandy Walker writes about the paintings in his current show at
Elizabeth Harris Gallery
My work is often about place and more recently about the human in nature. For many years I have spent significant periods of time in the Stehekin Valley of Washington State, a place where my wife’s family bought a cabin when she was still very young. Stehekin has influenced me deeply, and yet I do not believe that my work is as much descriptive of the place as it is about its spirit and about place as a pathway to a deeper understanding of nature, its themes, its essences.
