Seeing Things Invisible, Forrest Bess at the Menil
Living in a fishing camp and selling bait and making paintings sounds pretty wonderful, but I imagine the reality might be a little less idyllic. The Menil Collection exhibition Forrest Bess: Seeing Things Invisible is ending soon and is certainly worth taking another look (see earlier post here). Whether Bess was a 'visionary' painter or not, I'll leave to the historians. I find his painting enigmatic, that's enough for me.
