Mythology and Allegory, Regatta Boats
The Ca'Rezzonico had an exhibition of Regatta prints on loan from the Correro Museum. The regattas were organized in honor of princes and rulers visiting venice. The Regattas were extravagant parades with boats bearing exotic names such as bissone, malgarote, peopte and contained mythological scenes and allegorical figures. These performative, temporary, site specific works exist today through this archive of prints made be Tiepolo, Giambattista, Piranesi and the like.
