“On the brink of not being ready to be born,” is how Enrico David has described the condition of his works.
Here's some of the work from Enrico David's recent exhibition at
Michael Werner Gallery. Like many artists his work ranges from painting to sculpture to installation to collage and most often based in drawing, that most direct form of communication. Much from this exhibition made me think about Enrique Martinez Celaya's exhibition at Site Sante Fe this summer. There's a relationship to surrealism or fantasy along with the narrative and poetic impulse driving both of their projects.
