Paul Laster interviewed Philip Taaffe for TimeOutNY about his new work which was inspired by the war in Syria. When asked what painting means to him Taaffe replied "...I often think of it as a liturgical practice, as a form of sacred theater." They also talk about process, art as research and Matisse.
