Dawn Clements works on paper
Reflecting on the collage process of Kara Walker I recalled the exhibition last spring of Dawn Clements drawings from her residencies at The American Academy in Rome, The MacDowell Colony, and Civitella Ranieri. The panoramic tableau of her still lives, drawn from life, grow organically. Her process of gluing, folding and cutting the paper heightens the effect of an unfinished record of place and time as well as a sense of intimacy and vulnerability.
