John McAllister's exhibition of small paintings at
James Fuentes felt like a step out of time. These tightly choreographed color explosions
used the landscape in the best way. McAllister's phosphorescent color palette cloaks his deceptively complex mediations on color, form and perception. He's not breaking new ground in this work but they're satisfying nevertheless.
